"Nakuun the Snowy Owl" by Inés Horovitz and illustrated by Michele Montini. A fictional story where Nakuun, a snowy owl chick, tells about her experience growing in its egg, hatching, and getting to know the world through sounds, sensations, and her mother's descriptions, until days later she can finally open her eyes. The story is based on reports about the ecology and behavior of snowy owls. There is a series of questions and answers at the end of the story to review some of the information presented. The story is most appropriate for children ages 5 to 9 but it may be informative for readers of any age. eBook in English (PDF format).
